My mistake. Maybe it was Grantham in EastEnders.

Not surprisingly, Eastenders had loads of Hammers fans. Leslie Grantham, Todd Carty, Perry Fenwick, Shane Richie.

You're sometimes allowed by the production team to support your real team in the show. Bradley Walsh had a West Ham mug in both Corrie and Law and Order, for example.

Yeah, well spotted, his character died in training for the raid in Norway in 633 Squadron

I met Johnny once. It must be nearly 40 years ago now -fuckin' 'ell!
I worked for the major power tool company (B & D) and a customer of mine who had a shop in Roding Valley was opening a new one in Cranbrook road Ilford. Johnny was the celeb paid to open it.
Unfortunately it was a quiet midweek day and virtually no one turned up. So Johnny wasn't much use. But he didn't seem to mind, he'd had his wedge and he was happy chatting to a fellow hammer.

The only thing that could possibly cheer me up is Jenifer Anniston getting under my duvet tonight and West Ham winning ⚒

RIP to Johnny Briggs.

Always loved the Mike Baldwin character, London wide boy type that ran rings around those bone head Northerners ;-)

Was in a few B&W Ealing/English made films in his early career too IIRC?

Yeah, the golden era for Corrie.

Loved Baldwin , Stan Ogden and Jack Duckworth too. Always under the cosh of their missus or in trouble with the ladies.

All the old misogynistic stereotypes are falling. Heroes of political incorrectness like Manning, Sid James, Terry Thomas, Leslie Phillips and of course Alf Garnett. Still a few we can appreciate like Jim Royle, Peter Griffin and Homer ( albeit cartoon characters ), Rab C Nesbitt, Boycie etc....

In the years to come they will all be replaced by characters that are pan sexual, gender fluid, woke and politically correct in the extreme.

Soon they'll be saying Jim Davidson is not PC ? ;-)
